Randal K. Quarles is Assistant Secretary for International Affairs at the United States Treasury Department. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the Bar Association of the City of New York. Previously, he was Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund and served the US Department of Treasury as Special Assistant to the Secretary for Banking Legislation and as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Institutions Policy. In the private sector, Mr. Quarles was co-head of Davis Polk & Wardwell's Financial Institutions Group. Mr. Quarles graduated in Philosophy and Economics from Columbia College in 1981 and received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1984. His interests include international finance and banking.
