Kate Barker is an external member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England. Previously, she was the Chief Economic Adviser at the CBI and non-executive Director of the Yorkshire Building Society. She had worked as Chief European Economist at the Ford Motor Company, and she had been a member of Chancellor Clarke's Panel of Independent Economic Advisers. Kate holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from St Hilda's College, Oxford (1979).
